Sarah has an all - consuming passion for running. When she's offered a spot on the running team at McGill University, she's thrilled, despite her mother's disapproval and the financial burden she'll have to assume in moving to Montreal. Her co - worker Antoine, who's secretly in love with her, offers to move with her and suggest they become roommates so he can help with the expenses. He then suggests they get married so that Sarah can access government loans and grants available. The duo set themselves up in a small apartment and have a ceremony performed at City Hall.
